Halloween Time

So we always have a pretty fun Halloween. We just all get together and let the kids go door to door in our neighborhood. Leah, Jake, Anna, and Hayden usually come with us, but went trick or treating with the rich kids of wildewood, but according to Leah it wasn't as hip happening as Farming Creek. We were waiting in lines at times because there were lots 'o kids about. Matt and I have decided that if we ever have a girl, when she turns a certain age, she will not be allowed to dress up anymore... ha ha ha. I think the teens around here like to have contests to see what kind of costume they can get with the least amount of fabric. It fascinates me that a parent would let their daughter out of the house that way... anyways, pictures. yes, pictures. I have a few to show. Posts are no fun to look at unless there are pictures to be seen!

Our first family picture since I was pregnant with Hunter. I know, right?!! It was so hot last night- we didn't even dress Dane up in his costume. He would have had a heat stroke, so he just went as the cutest little guy around. :) And it's in b&w to take the sweaty shine off my no make up wearing face. I'm so shallow....

Nana with Corbin and Hunter

Corbin is a storm trooper (he's majorly into star wars these days) and Hunter is of course, Batman. A little story behind this costume. Hunter was flipping through a halloween costume catalog several months back and came across the batman muscle suit (what he calls it). He ripped it out and carried this paper for weeks... seriously. It's very worn and taped several times over and quite ragged. I couldn't throw it away. I'm keeping it for a keepsake. As for Corbin, this is the only picture that I got of Corbin where he didn't have his mask on (he was sweating profusely by the way in case you couldn't figure that out)

Corbin LOVES star wars! And I love Corbin!

Dane's First Trip to the Zoo...

So thanks to Christi and her free passes, I finally got my lazy mom butt up and took Dane to the zoo for the first time... He had a great time. He was pooped when all was said and done. But I think this was the funnest zoo trip for me. I've never really gotten to enjoy stuff because the kids are everywhere, but I was able to see the giraffes up close, I got to ride the carousel, looked at farm animals, I got to watch and listen to an elephant drink water, and I even saw the Gorilla's get fed! That was amazing-a really neat thing to watch! So posts aren't really fun without pictures unless you're Mikelene and can write creative, fun things, so here's some pictures to look at!

This was the only one with Dane looking at the camera... too bad I'm making a silly face... it would have been a nice picture. oh well.

I took this picture while Dane was walking ahead of me. He was so happy to be out of a stroller... but then came the leash (which got me some dirty looks from a few other seemingly perfect moms. Big, Fat "W")

Posing with the lion- took about 3 shots to get this one, but Dane had a blast studying the statues and playing around on them.

Yes, he is picking the dear monkey's nose. Atleast it's not his own, right?

Tram ride back to van- possessed or tired? maybe a little bit of both? (couldn't delete this blurry one, I thought it was sooo funny)

I'm thinking tired and he was asleep before we got out of the parking lot.

Guard Frogs

So I've been wanting to show everyone our new pets. They live somewhere on our front porch... a whole family of them. They loved to eat all the bugs around our front door on those hot, steamy summer nights. One night I count 7 frogs around the ceiling of our porch and I found this cute little guy the other night on the floor of the porch.

MY VERY FIRST MUD RUN!

Okay- so this past Saturday I ran in a Marine Corp sponsored Mud Run. Not just any run- a get down and forget all you've been taught about being clean and go kind of run. I've been working really hard to get back into shape so I thought when the opportunity arose to join a team, I thought it would be a neat experience to add to the very few that I've had so far. IT WAS EXHILARATING! IT WAS FUN! IT WAS MESSY! IT WAS HARD!... BUT SO WORTH IT! I felt such a sense of accomplishment when we finished. It was 4.2 miles of running, climbing, swimming, swinging, and jumping through a wooded trail of obstacles and lots 'o mud and water! I'm not too sore and just walked away with a minor cut near my knee. There were so many ambulances there-people were breaking bones and turning ankles left and right. Oh, and we finished the course in 1 hour 18 mins. We probably could have finished faster because some of the obstacles were a little congested at times, but I didn't mind the few breathers that I was able to have. So here are some pictures to give a little of idea of what we did.

All smiles in the beginning (I quit smiling as soon as we made the turn into the woods though)....

I was seriously thinking I was going to throw up because my quads were on fire!!!

My hair was PLASTERED with mud- we rinsed off there as much as we could but after I got home it had dryed and I had to apply conditioner before I could even wash it. Then I washed it conditioned it seriously 3 times- all worth it though- AMAZING EXPERIENCE!

SQUEEE! A NEW New Moon Trailer

Okay, so I'm posting this one, but I hear that this is just an abbreviated version of what they are showing on the VMA's tonight on MTV. Wow, this one looked so good and the acting this time doesn't even look cheesy. Yay, I'm very excited now!!

**Updated** I took the other one down and put the extended version on- so here it is!!!

I Do Remember And I Have Not Forgotten

I was wondering this morning while at the gym why they were showing so many clips of the September 11th attacks and then I realized... today was September 11th. I still remember that day clearly.

I was working in the call center for SCEG and I was pregnant with Corbin at the time. I remember working with a call and then as I was hanging up, I looked up and one of the managers was walking around turning all the TVs on in the building. They were placed all around so when there were storms we could track weather and whatnot. The news was turned on and the continuing buzz of the center literally went dead. No calls came through for over an hour. They weren't routed or anything, no one called. We all just kept our eyes on the TV and watched the terror that was happening. I cried and was so scared for what I was seeing. My mind raced and I thought about Corbin and the times ahead. This was such a tragic time in American history, but through this we were also able to witness miracles and people coming together and getting through this. I still remember that time like it was just yesterday. I remember vividly the things around me and I honestly don't like to. I remember after that day, I couldn't watch anymore coverage on this event because it hurt me so much to see the images on TV. I prayed for those people that were involved and that was my only solace.

Anyway, I want to express how grateful I am to live in this country and I am so thankful for the sacrifices of our armed forces and our civil services that are there to serve and protect us all. May they continue to be blessed for all they do for us!

First Day of School!

School is officially on now and I wanted to wait to post both of these guys together.

Corbin started the 2nd grade on August 19th and so far seems to really be enjoying it. Mrs. Herdon is his teacher and he says that she is really nice. First days are always a little nerve racking (at least they were for me growing up), but when Corbin got in the van he proclaimed to the world, "TODAY WAS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!" oh how I wish to have that mantra.

Photo taken by Hunter, budding photographer!

Hunter started 3 year old preschool today. He has been very anxious to start. He walked right in and did not look back. He was all smiles in the pick up line and talked and told me about his day. He played with his friend, Jake, he ate snack, played with a big truck, and peed all over the toilet seat. Sounds productive, right? Oh, and his nose has begun to run. Welcome back runny nose- NOT! You know school is in session when the noses begin to run, right?

He was saying cheese and he has also graduated to scruch up your face smile. Funny, because Corbin went through this when he was about three.

Peek A Boo

Dane has found a new place to play- he sits here quite a bit to ponder and he sometimes brings toys, but not today. Had to catch this photo op before he quit doing it.

Cute Piggies!

Who's there?!

Go Away!

Just kidding- here I am!

Mundane Mondays

Okay, so I feel like an unwanted but needed visitor is knocking on my door leading me to feel a little sloshy today... so to add to my perky and happy attitude I've thought of things that have driven me nuts in recent weeks. Ready, set, Go team alpha super awesome cool dynamite wolf squadron (if you can name this move btw, I will give you a Kudos- bar that is)

So here go.... DON'T YOU LOVE IT WHEN....

-You fill up the bathtub and get the kid in and he decides to pee... yeah.

-Someone pulls out in front of you when there are no cars behind you. Just an extra 5 secs that's all Acura guy.

-You hear weird noises coming from the washer (thinking oh no not that now)only to discover that a golf ball was added to the wash at the last minute. Four!

-You eat what you thought was a great meal only to suffer the entire night with what feels like a knife in your gut...

- Make supper and no one wants to eat it.

-Think you're a size 6, but finds out it is actually a the cut of the jeans because no other size 6 fits the same?! What's up with that? I like to think my quads are too muscular but only in my dreams.

-You pour a bowl of cereal and you're bombarded with requests for snacks, to be held, and someone needs help peeing. Then it is soggy by the time you get back. Mmmmm!... because the thought of waste in this terrible economic time period makes you eat it anyways.

-You work really hard to get that make up (that you rarely get a chance to wear)perfect (in your mind) and you leave to get to your destination only to find that you forgot the mascara! The horror.

-Look forward to a good, romantic comedy (clearing throat and coughing out The Proposal) and it turns out to be lame with a side of cheese! Smelly cheese at that.

-Get those Reese's Peanut Butter Cups that you've been craving and they end up tasting and smelling funny. Blast!

-You find a kid and the surrounding wall, carpet, and him literally covered in hand sanitizer... Seriously everywhere!

-When you take your kid for a desperately needed haircut and you leave somewhat satisified... only to return because it went lop sided as soon as it dried... thank you Sports Clips- no we will not be back.
Last one, I promise...

-You're reading this (what seems to be) great book and it goes all anti-climatic on you. Let down.

WHEW! I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER! I think I will have a good day now. Hope you do too! Stay tuned. Mundane Mondays might be back- not every Monday, but we can probably count on once a month during that special time! ;)

Potty Humor is the Best!

First, I have to apologize if my potty humor offends anyone. I came across this on a blog and I thought it was sooooo funny- because potty humor is great! Of course it is Twilight related.

Second, I know you are rolling your eyes Mom, and I'm sorry, but I had to. I'd like to dedicate this video to my sister, Leah, who will laugh her butt off I'm sure!!

Let's play a little game!

Okay, I'm suffering from bored mommy syndrome. Nothing of consequence happened today until Dane climbed into a fold out chair and sat down in it giving me a pretty sweet photo op. So let's laugh people! Under the comments section write what you think is going on in Dane's cute little head. Like a funny caption or something. I've got nothing, so help me out! Share with everyone so we can all laugh!

Hilarious! Jimmy Fallon Rocks!

Okay- here is yet another bit of Twilight/Harry Potter Humor. Yes, I do have other interests in case anyone was wondering... enjoy all!

Just wanted to add a couple of more pictures

Mommy and Hunter

Fourth of July at the Pool in our Neighborhood

Dane's first time in the big pool- He loved it! He was laughing and squealing the whole time

Corbin has turned into a fish! He is swimming underwater and can do flips underwater as well (which he is quite proud of)

oh and ps- I know my kids need major haircuts... I hate getting their haircuts for two reasons: They've gotten pretty terrible cuts the last few times and two it's just too much trouble. They'll get them soon... maybe...

HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY, HUNTER!

Today is Hunter's 3rd Birthday. We had his birthday cupcakes and presents after church at Nana's house yesterday. He got to wear the Birthday Boy pin on his shirt and he was so proud. The hit of all the presents was the huge Monster Truck that Aunt Leah picked for him. He slept with it last night and I heard the noises from it for quite sometime before he actually went to bed.

It is 8 in the morning and he has already brought me the birthday boy pin and is sitting down eating a chocolate cupcake. Today we will go to Monkey Joe's with his cousins to have one last casual celebration.

Even though Hunter can't read this, We wish him a wonderful and Happy Birthday! He is such a blessing to our family and we're so grateful for him... Lots of hugs and kisses to Hunter (and probably a few spankings... birthday ones that is... :))

Just a little Twilight Humor!

I saw this little stick man rendition of the New Moon trailer on one of the fan sites. I thought it was so funny! I wanted to share it with you all! My favorite is when Edward Peaces out when he leaves Bella in the woods! I laughed a ton when I saw this... I only wish I would have thought of this first. There are other Twilight stick man stuff at http://stickmantheatre.wordpress.com/twilight-saga-stick-man-theatre/

Funny stuff! **Had to compress the picture to fit, so if you can't see it just click on the picture and it will enlarge.

A HAPPY ANNOUNCEMENT!

I have such happy news to share and it might be a little premature, but....

I think Hunter is potty-trained! He woke up this morning and decided that he was going to go to the bathroom instead of in his pull-up. By mid-day we switched to undies and he has been very successful all day long. No wet diapers or accidents. I didn't pressure him, I just waited for him to tell me when he had to go. He even went to the bathroom at Wal-mart when we were grocery shopping. I thought for sure he would go on himself, but he didn't. So, let's keep our fingers crossed and hope this isn't another fluke.

Hope everyone has had a wonderful 4th of July!

Swim Day!

Everyday is water day at our house. It has become our afternoon activity to get the boys outside and get rid of some of their energy. They love it and look forward to it everyday. It is a nice, cheap way to have something to do. Matt purchased a Coleman tent with an spf 50 in the fabric so I don't have worry about sunscreen all the time. I hate putting it on though I know it's necessary. Side note: Hunter went to the bathroom using the potty yesterday on his own. He was playing in the bathtub and began to fuss saying he had to potty. I pulled him out and helped him up, but he wouldn't go. So I took him to his room to get dressed for bed and he said he wanted to go back to the potty. So I followed him and I helped him up and he hesitated a little, but I told him it was okay to go and he went. He was so proud of himself, as was I. We did a happy dance and gave eachother thumbs up! So far this morning he is staying dry. I told him to tell me when he needed to go potty. Hopefully since I gave the control back to him, maybe he'll be able to do this without pressure. Fingers crossed.

Welcome to The Wilson Family Blog

Hello to everyone! Yes, I've finally done it. Our blog is here! Let's see how long I will be able to keep up with this thing. Any bets?

So what's been going on with us lately? To keep it brief, Matt got a new job as a contractor at the VC Summer Nuclear Plant doing something techy there. We are really excited about this job and he seems pleased because it's something different. It's a pretty long drive, but not bad he says. I personally enjoy quiet rides to be left alone with my thoughts... I digress.

Corbin, Hunter, and Dane are doing great. Corbin and Hunter have a love/hate brotherhood. One minute they are screaming "stop it" and then the next they are watching tv with their arms aroung eachothers shoulders. Corbin will be in the second grade at Lake Murray Elementary and is an excellent reader. We just recently began reading chapter books. We are currently reading a Magic Treehouse book and he is just doing a phenomenal job. After the first two pages he read, he stopped and looked at me with this beaming smile and said, "I just can't believe I'm doing this." That same week, we tossed the booster because he has finally reached weight requirements to ride in a car without one. Needless to say, he thinks he is hot stuff now.

I'm attempting potty training with Hunter and it is an absolute nightmare! He is a VERY strong willed child, and I'm completely at a loss. But we'll get there... when he feels like it. I'm not going to force him because I don't want to make it a negative experience and then I'll end up with a 5 year old in diapers. These days, Hunter is taking cues from Corbin in the comedian area. All Hunter has to do is mention the word "poo poo" and he'll get a laugh from Corbin. So "poo poo" is in much of his dialogue.

Dane is holding his own with these other two guys. He can rumble with the best of 'em. He's put the smackdown on Hunter a couple of times releasing the Hulk causing me to use my cat like reflexes to intervene before Dane becomes Hunter's lunch. (Hunter is a really sweet, lovable kid- he just has the Fedrick blood running through his veins- family will understand this) Dane only has 4 teeth. Yes, only 4. It has made feeding him quite inconvenient. He's not much for table foods, but he's getting there. He'll been potty trained before he stops eating graduate foods for his meals.

These guys are my joy, seriously. It's been hard, but I feel blessed. I love my family and look forward to sharing more with everyone. You'll get to know me better, I hope and learn the workings of my keen intellect. Boowahhahaha! Take care and Love to Everyone!
