Hunter's Boo Boo

DISCLAIMER! Do not proceed to this post if you are uppity or judgemental.

Hunter went to the doctor this morning to get his eye checked out. It's been discharging, but wasn't pink- but we just wanted to be sure before we infected the others in the house. So Hunter got his finger pricked for a blood test and after the initial freak out, Matt told him to show him his finger so he could send me a picture of his boo boo and this is what Matt got. I will not apologize simply because it was absolutely hilarious. Of course, Matt didn't make a big deal about it so Hunter has no idea what he did was considered taboo.

In Recent News

Dane's Family Birthday Party-

Dane totally racked up on gifts, which is ridiculous for someone his age, but he had a good time and he was Papa's buddy the entire afternoon/evening! He made a beeline for "pop pop" and wanted to be everywhere he was.
I'm not a photographer (obviously)but this was Dane's YAY! So cute!
He was doing the funniest things with his hands- my camera is just not fast enough to catch it.
After we sang Happy Birthday, we realized that the candles were blown out... culprit- Hayden (not Hunter, for once... I know, right?!)

My New Hair-

I got it highlighted and cut! I forgot how long it took because it takes a super long time! I'm enjoying it and I also got some new make-up. I visited the bobby brown counter (sorry, Jamie) and was introduced to their tinted mosturizer and pressed powder (which was yellow- for my skin tone- I thought it was funny.) Jamie, these are my new "must-have" Wednesday thing you do on your make up blog. I didn't have to touch up at all for the entire day AND it gave my face this silky smooth look and it wasn't a different color than my neck. Matt told me with my hair and make up that I look that one of those dolls that you order to look like yourself... Never heard that one, but I'll take it! :)
Do you like my alluring look into the camera? Should I have made kissy lips instead?

Corbin Lost His Second Top Tooth-

I thought this picture was so funny! True to Corbin! I also finally told Corbin this morning that there was no tooth fairy or Easter Bunny, but Santa was still real. I didn't think I could drop a bomb like that yet. But I went through all this trouble to write a note in fancy lettering and then I forgot the coin. *sigh* Corbin was so upset about the coin that I gave him a dollar for the school store- and most of you know how I feel about the school store. He kept ranting about the coin and asked me to email the tooth fairy people to complain about Casper- the fairy that worked last night. (that's how I told him we communicated) I finally just told him. He looked at me and tried not to crack a smile. He's known- I think he just didn't want to admit it because he wants money still. I told him that I would buy his teeth from him from now on. His reply- "Why would you want to buy my teeth?" Then I said,"Um, Corbin, I've been doing it all along." Corbin- "oh yeah." So I guess that went pretty well.

Corbin's Birthday Party at the Bowling Alley

So Corbin had his 8th Birthday party at the bowling alley. We waited until after the baptism so that he wouldn't focus on this more than anything. And instead of presents this year, we decided to collect canned/dried food goods to donate to the local food pantry in town. I'm proud of Corbin for wanting to do this!
This wasn't all the kids, just a few at the table.
This is Corbin and his best buddy Nick!
Corbin wanted me to leave him alone- I kept calling out his name to get him to look at me. Still didn't work.
These cupcakes were made by Jessica Whetstone. They turned out so good and Corbin thought they were so cool- all the kids wanted the handle part of the light sabers.
We had a great turn out to the bowling party and Corbin's friends were very generous! This box was so HEAVY, Matt wouldn't have been able to get this back in the van w/o Mom's roller thing. We're delivering the food to LICS today. :)

**UPDATE** We delivered the food today and it weighed in at 122.5 lbs. Way to go Corbin and friends!

More Creeptastic!!

So I came across some more Creeptastic and utterly insane Twilight merchandise. I'm embarrassed to say that I'm a fan right now. And get this! I didn't want to put them up, but there are also Twilight condoms! Yep. I wonder if they glow in the dark?

Cue scarey music. He looks like he would come alive to me. This is so weird.
Ew.

This is called a Manllow: half man, half pillow. No thank you, etsy. Bad, bad etsy seller! And they're sold out!

Corbin's Baptism Pictures... Yes Finally!

Corbin was baptized on February 13th, 2010 at the Lexington Building! We've filled out his keepsake baptism book and it has been one of the main topics of discussion for the last few days between he and I. I think that this day left a lasting impression on Corbin. I know it did with me. This single event gave me a renewed need to be better in all that I do in my daily life. Especially with my children. So, here are some pictures of the big day!

I love this picture of everyone (but shallow Jaime hates her outfit!)

The Father/Son picture (Matt's got one similar to this one with his own father)
This is what was left of the group. My dad got called to work and left right after the baptism was over and my sister and her family left b/c she was extremely ill) There was also various friends there and I appreciate all that came out to support Corbin for his decision to be baptized. It was a great afternoon!

Dane Turns 2 today!!!

Today is my youngest baby's 2nd birthday! Time has flown with him, it seems. He brings so much joy to our lives, even if he refuses to eat anything... seriously. So Happy, Happy Birthday to my Dane-y! More pictures next week of his family birthday party!

Snow in SC?

So on Friday, 2/12, the kids were released from school an hour early because of possible inclement weather. Eye roll please. Our weather guys around here are typically wrong about the weather, I think. But they were right this time. It snowed and snowed. Did I mention that it SNOWED?! Did I mention that we were very unprepared for it? We barely have jackets heavy enough and we had no gloves. Luckily though, we had boots. (Dane didn't and as soon as the wet hit his pants, he started crying. We spent about 10 minutes outside total. Corbin was bummed, but even he said his hands felt like they were burning. I will be prepared every year from now on even if we don't get snow!

Creeptastic!!!

Okay, I'm a Twilight fan just like everyone else, but does anyone think that they are going a little overboard with the merchandise? Maybe just a little. Or A LOT! So I came across this on a fansite.

Does this creep anyone else out?! My imagination really gets away from me at night! (admittingly, I used to think my elliptical looked like short circuit when it was in my room and it was dark) So, I think this would scare the crap out me. Why, why, why?!

I NEED an expert opinion

Okay, so I'm itching for a change in the hair department. I want to do this to my hair... I'm dying for red highlights because I'm feeling a bit saucy these days and plus... I'm bored. I need something hot. Now it probably won't be this red, but the Huei Aveda salon here in town has their own mixed in house color that is GORGEOUS! I saw it on the salon owner's daughter and she happens to be asian, so I know it would work with my coloring. I think I'm gonna do bangs too like the photo. I still have a few months before summer and they can always be pinned back with my famous bobby pin 'do. :) But I was thinking that this coif would look pretty dang rad with my new glasses, which I like to say they are retro chic. Yes, I'm admitting that I'm having a few issues with turning......... this year so I'd like to stay younger for a little longer without the risk of looking too ridiculous. My ultimate goal is to shave a few years off. Yes, I will say it. I don't swim too often in the deep end people. I wade in the shallow end-waist deep is about as deep as I go on a normal day. There.

Tell me what you think! Be honest, I can take it! I don't want liar posts, but fair warning- I will do ultimately what I want to do. :)

I Can't Believe I Have An 8 Year Old!

Today Corbin turns 8 years old! Where has the time gone?! I just can't believe we've gotten to this point. WOW. We celebrated his birthday yesterday after church with the family. Corbin will be having a party in the coming weeks, but we wanted to wait until after this Saturday to start planning a party. This Saturday Corbin will be baptized- we are all very excited about this milestone in his life.

Corbin screamed with joy when he opened this gift! His favorite character in Star Wars is Yoda and tried to get me to buy this Yoda "pillow" (what mom calls it b/c we don't buy stuffed animals anymore) It was the best surprise for him, I think!

Isn't it funny what boys go crazy over? Anything ugly and monster looking- this was from Leah, Jake, Hayden, and Anna. Their gifts are always a hit! Got another happy scream from this one.

There's a story behind this DS game. Hayden got it for Christmas and Corbin played it and decided that he loved it. So he decided to save all his earned money over a course of several weeks to get this. Well, when he finally had enough, we couldn't find it. Anywhere. But as luck would have it, I found it hidden behind a different game at Target the other night. SCORE! He was so happy with this one too, I let him stay up a few extra minutes to give a go! (this kid is assessed - in his words- with video games)

It's always fun to attempt a group picture. This one actually turned out decent. :)

This is (I can bet money on this) that this will be the last year I get Corbin to sit on my lap. Yes, I know, let go.

Classic Corbin face. I laughed when I saw this one.

I think Corbin had a good time- a nice, memorable night. Today, I'm going to have lunch with him at school and take popsicles to his class to share at lunchtime. Happy Birthday to my sweet boy!

Spinning!!

I just got new spin shoes and I'm very excited to use them. I've been taking a spin class since the end of the summer of 2009. I was getting really bored with my work out and needed to mix it up a bit. So I started going back to a spin class. I took one before I had Hunter at another gym and really enjoyed it then, so I thought I would give it a shot again. Well, I've grown to just love it! I met a lady named Lily and a man named Charles in my class. I became friends with them and we all ride next to one another on the same bikes every class. (we laugh quite a bit about how routine we are) Charles gets there early and saves bikes for Lily and myself. For a while now, I've been eyeing spin shoes and just couldn't bring myself to purchase them. Something higher on the priority list would get in the way, so I would put them off thinking my tennis shoes are just fine. Well, I came to spin the other day and saw that the "spin fairy" left me a card and inside I found a gift card to Bike to Nature and a 20% off coupon to go with it. I thought I was going to cry. Lily and Charles have grown kids of their own and know how hard it is sometimes to "treat" yourself. After all was said and done, I only paid 23 bucks out of my own pocket for these shoes. And if you don't know how much these things cost, in my opinion, they should have been gold-dipped. :) I was completely taken back by this grand gesture of friendship from them. It's so different to be on the receiving end of something so nice from friends- I will truely never forget this experience. I know it's just spin shoes, but it was a lot more than that to me. Yay! I'm very happy not only with the shoes, but for the people I choose to surround myself with- There are such beautiful people in this world!

I love them! Bike to Nature also installed my clips on the bottom for me.

I've been told that my ride will be so much better with these. I can't wait!
