I Can't Believe I Have An 8 Year Old!

Today Corbin turns 8 years old! Where has the time gone?! I just can't believe we've gotten to this point. WOW. We celebrated his birthday yesterday after church with the family. Corbin will be having a party in the coming weeks, but we wanted to wait until after this Saturday to start planning a party. This Saturday Corbin will be baptized- we are all very excited about this milestone in his life.

Corbin screamed with joy when he opened this gift! His favorite character in Star Wars is Yoda and tried to get me to buy this Yoda "pillow" (what mom calls it b/c we don't buy stuffed animals anymore) It was the best surprise for him, I think!

Isn't it funny what boys go crazy over? Anything ugly and monster looking- this was from Leah, Jake, Hayden, and Anna. Their gifts are always a hit! Got another happy scream from this one.

There's a story behind this DS game. Hayden got it for Christmas and Corbin played it and decided that he loved it. So he decided to save all his earned money over a course of several weeks to get this. Well, when he finally had enough, we couldn't find it. Anywhere. But as luck would have it, I found it hidden behind a different game at Target the other night. SCORE! He was so happy with this one too, I let him stay up a few extra minutes to give a go! (this kid is assessed - in his words- with video games)

It's always fun to attempt a group picture. This one actually turned out decent. :)

This is (I can bet money on this) that this will be the last year I get Corbin to sit on my lap. Yes, I know, let go.

Classic Corbin face. I laughed when I saw this one.

I think Corbin had a good time- a nice, memorable night. Today, I'm going to have lunch with him at school and take popsicles to his class to share at lunchtime. Happy Birthday to my sweet boy!

Spinning!!

I just got new spin shoes and I'm very excited to use them. I've been taking a spin class since the end of the summer of 2009. I was getting really bored with my work out and needed to mix it up a bit. So I started going back to a spin class. I took one before I had Hunter at another gym and really enjoyed it then, so I thought I would give it a shot again. Well, I've grown to just love it! I met a lady named Lily and a man named Charles in my class. I became friends with them and we all ride next to one another on the same bikes every class. (we laugh quite a bit about how routine we are) Charles gets there early and saves bikes for Lily and myself. For a while now, I've been eyeing spin shoes and just couldn't bring myself to purchase them. Something higher on the priority list would get in the way, so I would put them off thinking my tennis shoes are just fine. Well, I came to spin the other day and saw that the "spin fairy" left me a card and inside I found a gift card to Bike to Nature and a 20% off coupon to go with it. I thought I was going to cry. Lily and Charles have grown kids of their own and know how hard it is sometimes to "treat" yourself. After all was said and done, I only paid 23 bucks out of my own pocket for these shoes. And if you don't know how much these things cost, in my opinion, they should have been gold-dipped. :) I was completely taken back by this grand gesture of friendship from them. It's so different to be on the receiving end of something so nice from friends- I will truely never forget this experience. I know it's just spin shoes, but it was a lot more than that to me. Yay! I'm very happy not only with the shoes, but for the people I choose to surround myself with- There are such beautiful people in this world!

I love them! Bike to Nature also installed my clips on the bottom for me.

I've been told that my ride will be so much better with these. I can't wait!

A Cold and Rainy Day at Home

So it's freezing outside and raining today and aside from me running a couple of errands, the boys have been home all day. Matt (thinking ahead) picked up some boxes at the UHAUL store and made this fantastic and very huge maze for the boys to play in (It took up the entire room). He cut out holes in random places and put electric tea lights in for lighting up the inside. All three of them have had a blast in it! I've been able to be pretty productive with this new playhouse for them. They've been coloring inside the boxes and decorating the walls, poking their own holes in it around and sticking the dozens of flashlights that we have for them around. And when we're done, we'll collapse the boxes and save them for another rainy day. Good Show, Matt- Kudos to you for being a good daddy!

It Finally Fell Out

Yay! Corbin finally lost that tooth that just hung there for forever. He took it out at school of all places. Classic Corbin quote, "I hope the tooth fairy gives me a DS game." Not likely, hope he liked his half-dollar instead... :) Oh, and Corbin's other 3 top teeth are loose too. I don't know why I'm feeling so emotional about this. He's lost all 4 of his bottom front teeth already, but those didn't get me as much as him losing the top tooth yesterday. He's growing up. He'll be baptized soon... then one day he'll be passing the sacrament, then going to his first youth dance, then getting his license, and going on his first date, then graduating highschool, and then the mission... am I being a little melodramatic?? I wonder where Corbin gets it?! lol!

My Grandpa Died

Last week, my Grandpa died very suddenly. My heart is broken because he has been a part of my life since I was a baby. I have so many wonderful memories of him and my Grandma. My Grandma passed away about 6 years ago and I still miss her everyday. My only solace is that I know that they are together and I will see them again one day. These last few years were hard without Grandma, but Grandpa was always happiest with the great-grand kids. I'm glad that they were able to have time with him and know him.

Halloween Time

So we always have a pretty fun Halloween. We just all get together and let the kids go door to door in our neighborhood. Leah, Jake, Anna, and Hayden usually come with us, but went trick or treating with the rich kids of wildewood, but according to Leah it wasn't as hip happening as Farming Creek. We were waiting in lines at times because there were lots 'o kids about. Matt and I have decided that if we ever have a girl, when she turns a certain age, she will not be allowed to dress up anymore... ha ha ha. I think the teens around here like to have contests to see what kind of costume they can get with the least amount of fabric. It fascinates me that a parent would let their daughter out of the house that way... anyways, pictures. yes, pictures. I have a few to show. Posts are no fun to look at unless there are pictures to be seen!

Our first family picture since I was pregnant with Hunter. I know, right?!! It was so hot last night- we didn't even dress Dane up in his costume. He would have had a heat stroke, so he just went as the cutest little guy around. :) And it's in b&w to take the sweaty shine off my no make up wearing face. I'm so shallow....

Nana with Corbin and Hunter

Corbin is a storm trooper (he's majorly into star wars these days) and Hunter is of course, Batman. A little story behind this costume. Hunter was flipping through a halloween costume catalog several months back and came across the batman muscle suit (what he calls it). He ripped it out and carried this paper for weeks... seriously. It's very worn and taped several times over and quite ragged. I couldn't throw it away. I'm keeping it for a keepsake. As for Corbin, this is the only picture that I got of Corbin where he didn't have his mask on (he was sweating profusely by the way in case you couldn't figure that out)

Corbin LOVES star wars! And I love Corbin!
